Renting an RV is a great way for first timers to experience the RV lifestyle.
The problem though is the cost. Renting an RV is not cheap. A recent survey of 2 local rental dealers showed a huge amount of expense for just one week of travel that could have been used more wisely to make a purchase.
One dealer offered Class C only motorhomes with an average daily rate of over $150 to $190 plus additional expenses to include generator usage, additional miles, rental insurance, etc.....Not to mention a $800 up front security deposit that "might" be refundable if the unit is returned cleaned and the tanks are dumped and the.....you get the idea right?
Another dealer offered only 5 to 10 year old USED RV's for rent that barely look road ready aside from putting the kids or family pet in for that "fun" worry free vacation.
If you are traveling the country we recomend ONLY dealing with a NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED rental company that can service you where ever your travels take you.
Don't feel the need to leave the family pet at home. Rving is about family time and if your family is like ours, pets are part of the family. Here is an actual disclaimer from a local dealers website regarding their pet poilcy:
All units have a 3 night minimum. $400.00 deposit to secure reservation. $800.00 Security Deposit. All rentals paid in full 2 weeks prior to departure date. Minimum age of all drivers is 25 years. All units are all No smoking and No Pets.
